The Gold Coast SUNS worked tirelessly in their final home game of the season before falling short to a late surge from Collingwood in a stormy battle at Bond University 5.9 (39) to 3.6 (24).
In their 50th milestone match, both skipper Lucy Single and 2024 Club Champion Charlie Rowbottom put on an immense performance for their home fans. Single was impactful right across the field, leading the tackle count (10) for Gold Coast on top of 26 disposals. Rowbottom was the major ball winner, recording a season-best 36 disposals (11 clearances) to go with 27 contested possessions and eight tackles.
Up front, Ella Smith fired up the board for the SUNS with an impressive boot before slotting her second when it was needed most. The SUNS leading goal kicker Havana Harris added another to her tally with an impressive drop-punt from one step inside the 50 to go with four score involvements.
In defense, Charlotte Wilson (10 intercept possessions & 11 contested possession) and Clara Fitzpatrick (8 intercept possessions & 2 contested marks ) stood tall on a number of occasions.
