StreetSmarts SUNS Academy product Beau Addinsall is the newest Gold Coast SUNS player after being selected by his hometown club at Wednesday’s Telstra AFL Draft.

The SUNS matched a bid made by the West Coast Eagles with Pick 18 to secure the services of the highly touted Burleigh Bombers junior.

GC SUNS National Recruiting Manager Kall Burns says it’s a great moment to see a lifelong SUNS fan live out his dream.

“It’s fantastic for our club to welcome another Gold Coaster and a long-time member of our StreetSmarts SUNS Academy on to our AFL list.

“Beau is another young player to have come through the ranks at the Burleigh Bombers, and he has been a consistent performer throughout his junior years at various levels.

“He has shown fantastic leadership qualities as a member our Academy leadership group in 2025, and his aerobic capacity and ability to win the ball in particular are attributes we’re looking forward to seeing continue develop under Damien Hardwick.

Addinsall, who played his junior football for Burleigh Bombers before representing Broadbeach in the QAFL, is a hard-running midfielder who wins plenty of the ball, as evidenced by his average of 32 disposals and 7.7 clearances in the Coates Talent League in 2015.

Having previously earned All Australian honours at Under 15 and Under 16 levels, Addinsall was a Marsh AFL National Academy member in 2025, also representing the Allies at the Under 18 National Championships and playing five VFL matches late in the 2025 season.

He joins a host of StreetSmarts SUNS Academy graduates to join the SUNS through the Telstra AFL Draft, including Zeke Uwland (Pick 2), Dylan Patterson (Pick 5) and Jai Murray (Pick 17).
