The Gold Coast SUNS’ innovative digital education platform has received industry recognition at 2025 LearnX Awards in Melbourne.

Developed in partnership with Playbk Sports, SUNS Learning was named Platinum Winner for Best Custom/Bespoke in the Industry Specific - Sport category.

SUNS Learning was created to strengthen the club’s reach in its communities, expand curriculum-aligned school programs and increase access to athlete-led learning across Queensland and the Northern Territory.

The platform’s streams, which includes Play to Your Strengths, SUNS Fitness and SUNS Active Lab, are centred on providing the tools and information to develop and nurture the health and wellbeing of young Australians, with additional streams to be launched in early 2026.

Gold Coast SUNS CEO Mark Evans celebrated the program’s success.

“This recognition reflects the SUNS commitment to our community. SUNS Learning has become a genuine asset for schools, academy athletes and families and we’re incredibly proud of the platform and its impact,” Evans said.

Playbk Sports CEO Jon Shepherd said, “SUNS Learning sets a benchmark in Australian sport for curriculum-aligned, athlete-led education. It has been a privilege to partner with the SUNS on such a meaningful and future-focused initiative.”

SUNS Learning is now accessed by more than 7,500 registered users with those involved having access to AFL and AFLW player-led learning, including digital tools, videos and lesson resources to enable teachers to deliver engaging and curriculum aligned experiences.
