Gold Coast SUNS are kicking off Opening Round at People First Stadium with an Australian stadium first as part of a blockbuster game day experience.

For the first time, Sunny Ray’s Spaceship – Powered by SIXT is set to deliver an exclusive and exciting experience for SUNS fans, flying a 15m² SUNS flag 30m above the turf at People First Stadium shortly before the start of Gold Coast’s season opener against Geelong on Friday night.

The Drone Flag, which will be operated by one half of the SUNS iconic mascots duo Sunny Ray, is unprecedented for Australian sports and stadium entertainment, having only previously flown as part of the EKKA at Brisbane’s RNA Showgrounds arena.

“We’re thrilled to launch Sunny Ray’s Spaceship – Powered by SIXT, an Australian stadium first that will elevate the energy and excitement inside People First Stadium ahead of our season opener,” Gold Coast SUNS Chief Executive Officer Mark Evans said.

“The Drone Flag sets the tone for a new era of unforgettable, next‑level match‑day entertainment, and we can’t wait for our SUNS members and fans to experience it alongside a mega suite of family fun activities.

“The excitement around the city is unbelievable and you can tell that the Gold Coast is thrilled to have the SUNS back on the field, getting another season underway.

“We’re looking forward to testing ourselves against the best and it is fantastic to see so many of our dedicated members, supporters and the wider Gold Coast community getting behind their club and ready to cheer us on tonight.”

The pre-show entertainment forms part of a blockbuster game day experience at People First Stadium on Friday night.

The club’s brand new official International Airline Partner, Fiji Airways are set to bring a slice of paradise to Gate 3 in addition to giving away flights to Fiji to one lucky winner.

SUNS fans seated 30 minutes before the first ball up will also have the chance to score $1000 worth of cruise credit all thanks to Coaches Partner My Cruises.

Fans can also channel their inner SUN across five brand new SUNS inflatables located in the Red Zone amongst returning fan favourite activities.
