The Gold Coast SUNS have gone down by 97 points to Box Hill in Friday afternoon’s VFL clash at People First Stadium.

The SUNS kept touch with the Hawks in the game’s early stages and led early in the second term, but the Hawks soon took control with a strong breeze at their backs, kicking the next six goals to take control of the contest.

Alex Sexton kicked the first goal of the third term before the Hawks put the SUNS to the sword, including eight goals to none in the last quarter.

Ben Jepson led all comers for the SUNS with 35 disposals spending plenty of time on-ball, with Cooper Collins (31 disposals), Sexton (30) and Caleb Lewis (26) the other major winners.

Next up for the SUNS is a trip south to face Port Melbourne next Sunday.
