Electric defender Daisy D’Arcy has committed to the Gold Coast SUNS, locking in a two-year extension to remain at her home club until the end of the 2028 AFLW season.

Hailing from Townsville, the StreetSmarts SUNS Academy talent has played 61 games since joining in the 2020 NAB AFLW Draft and has established herself as a mainstay of the squad.

After missing the last season with an ACL injury, the 23-year-old has returned to Rhyce Shaw’s side stronger than ever to average career-highs of 20 disposals and six intercept possessions and place herself in contention for her maiden All-Australian blazer.

One of the livewire’s most damaging performances came in Round 4 against Port Adelaide (Yartapuulti), in which she amassed a career-high 34 disposals and 694-metres gained to poll the perfect 10 coaches votes.

Don’t miss Daisy’s moment. Secure your tickets and cheer on the SUNS in the AFLW First Elimination Final this Sunday at People First Stadium from 2:05pm.

On the eve of the SUNS First Elimination Final, D’Arcy is thrilled to have locked in her future in the red, gold and blue.

Gold Coast SUNS AFLW General Manager of Women’s Football Erin Phillips said the club was pleased to have secured the young star for a further two years.

“We’re thrilled to have Daisy locked in for another two years. She’s an incredibly talented player and an important part of what we’re building here at the Gold Coast SUNS,” Phillips shared.

“We’re really proud of the way she attacked her rehabilitation, and to see her return and have such an immediate and damaging impact has been really rewarding.

“Above all, Daisy is a much-loved member of our squad who embodies our values on and off the field. We’re looking forward to seeing her continue to make her mark as we head into Finals.”
