A trio of StreetSmarts SUNS Academy talents have re-signed on the Gold Coast with Jake Rogers, Lachie Gulbin and Alex Davies all putting pen to paper on new deals.
Former first round selection Jake Rogers will remain in the red, gold and blue until the end of the 2029 after signing a three-year extension.
Rogers played nine games in an injury-impacted 2026 season, including the final four matches of the season. The 21-year-old Broadbeach Cats junior has played 27 games since joining with Pick 14 in the 2023 national draft which also saw Jed Walter, Ethan Read and Will Graham land at the SUNS.
Gulbin, who earlier this season hit a trigger that locked him for the 2027 season, has also secured his future on the Gold Coast until the end of 2029. After making his debut late in 2025, the 19-year-old played 11 matches in 2026.
The small forwards both boast a plethora of attacking traits, but have earned the praise of the SUNS coaching panel this season for his defensive and off-the-ball efforts, most notably inside forward 50.
Davies has played 46 games in SUNS colours since being drafted from the Cairns Hawks as an Academy Zone selection, and has signed a one-year extension. The 24-year-old played six matches as he too battled injuries in 2026.
“Jake, Lachie and Alex have been a part of our club for many years now, having played their junior football on the Gold Coast and Cairns respectively and as members of our StreetSmarts SUNS Academy,” SUNS List and Recruitment Manager Kall Burns said.
“It’s great to see our homegrown talents committing to our club and wanting to be part of what we’re building here at the SUNS."
The trio form part of a growing cohort of talent on the SUNS list with the likes of Leo Lombard and Bodhi Uwland having penned multi-year extensions earlier this year.
