The Gold Coast Suns are pleased to confirm the contract extensions of three of its brightest young players with Ben Ainsworth, Jack Bowes and Peter Wright all committing their futures to the club.

Bowes, a Gold Coast SUNS Talent Academy product has had an impressive start to his third season at the highest level and has extended his contract until the end of the 2024 season.

“It was my dream growing up to play for the club and I’m excited by the direction we’re heading,” Bowes said.

“Gold Coast is home for me, we’ve got a great group of lads, we’re all really close and I’m looking forward to the future.

“We’ve had a consistent start to the year, there are still plenty of challenges ahead and we’re looking forward to taking them on.”

After an injury interrupted season in 2018, Wright has played every game this season and is thrilled to extend his deal until the end of 2022.

“I’m really enjoying my footy at the moment, as a team we’ve put in a lot of hard work, it’s showing positive signs of paying off but we know we have plenty left to do,” Wright said.

“I’m loving being at the club, and we’re working every day to try and improve and make sure we continue to build over the coming years.”

In a strong message to SUNS members and fans, Ainsworth the number four pick in the 2016 NAB AFL Draft, who has committed until the end of 2022 said he wanted to play his role in leading the club forward.

“Like a number of our players I’ve been able to develop my game since arriving on the Coast and I can’t wait to continue to play and develop with the team in the future,” Ainsworth said.

“I’m sure our members can see the hard work we’re putting into building our club the right way, we’re focused on playing a consistent brand of footy that makes them proud.”

General Manager List & strategy Craig Cameron said the trio’s signings displayed a significant vote of confidence in the direction of the club has taken in recent times.

 “We’re focussed on creating an environment for our players to thrive and that is only successful if we get a collective buy in from our playing group,” Cameron said.

“The players are really taking responsibility to help drive us forward and it’s exciting to see.

“Ben, Jack and Peter are the latest of a number of players who have committed to the club in recent times.”

All three players join senior players Jarrod Witts, David Swallow, Alex Sexton and Rory Thompson as well as vice-captain Touk Miller who have committed their long-term futures to the club in recent months.
