The Gold Coast SUNS made it two on the trot after a convincing win over Carlton at Etihad Stadium on Saturday. The win brought with it many exceptional AFL Fantasy outings across the board which would have left fantasy coaches either cheering or cursing. Goldcoastfc.com.au have analysed some of the best SUNS performers on the day.
Tom Lynch (FWD) - $587,000
Gold Coast’s captain and talisman, Lynch booted a career-best eight goals against Carlton on the weekend. His impressive work in front of the sticks was also backed up by his efforts down the ground with 10 of his 21 touches being contested.
The big man looked unstoppable last week on his way to 139 fantasy points, and could be in line for another big outing on Saturday against Fremantle at the brand new Optus Stadium. Owned in less than 3% of sides, Lynch won’t set you back too much at $587,000 and has proven he can go big. He could be the game-breaker you’re looking for in your AFL Fantasy side.
Jarryd Lyons (MID) - $675,000
This man just keeps performing. Possibly one of the most underrated players in the entire competition, Jarryd Lyons has picked up where he left off last season with scores of 84 and 134 to kick off the 2018 season.
The hard nut midfielder collected 36 disposals against Carlton, incredibly 26 of those were contested. He also laid six tackles and accumulated 14 clearances to cap off a terrific AFL Fantasy performance. Lyons is a reliable midfield option this year in Fantasy and if he keeps up this level of output, he would be a great point of difference in your sides.
Jack Martin (FWD) - $596,000
Martin has now pieced together back-to-back solid Fantasy performances. His 95 against North Melbourne in Cairns was followed by last week’s 88 against Carlton, reinforcing his worth as a forward fantasy option.
Martin had 15 disposals at Etihad Stadium on Saturday, and was the perfect foil for Tom Lynch in front of goals, chipping in three majors of his own. Martin is at his best when he floats along the half-forward line, but can also rotate through the midfield to bolster his scoring potential. With a few popular forward AFL Fantasy options misfiring in the opening two rounds, Martin could be a popular downgrade target as the season progresses.
