International Rules Football is coming to the Gold Coast and it’s expected a huge green army will follow the Irish team to Metricon Stadium for the second and deciding International Rules series match on November the 4th.
Ireland will arrive on the glitter strip desperate to outpoint the Australians and reclaim the Cormac McAnallen trophy after suffering successive heartbreaking losses to the Aussies during last years series held in Limerick and Dublin with the hosts going down by seven and three points respectively.
Rodney Eade will coach the Australian side with a number of exciting young Gold Coast SUNS players set to be rewarded with places in the National team.
While both squads go hard on the field, it’s going to be party time for the fun loving Irish and the many visiting Australian fans off it.
Metricon Stadium will provide a carnival atmosphere with live entertainment and roving performers ensuring guests are entertained from the moment they enter the stadium.
It’s expected the International Rules series will inject millions of dollars into local economy.
Fans are being urged to don their National colours and embrace the friendly IRS rivalry off field, whilst AFL’s best go head to head with Gaelic footballs stars on it.
The Opening Test of the 2011 series will be played at Etihad stadium on October 28.
