The Gold Coast SUNS have received permission from the AFL for Frankston VFL player Leigh Osborne to training with the club in the lead up to the pre-season and rookie drafts.

The 186cm half-back has come from the clouds, or at least East Ringwood in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, to become one of the most highly rated VFL players.

Osborne, 22-years-old, has a sharp burst of speed and a long left-foot kick, making him a classic 80m run-and-carry player.

Despite missing out on being drafted at last week’s NAB AFL Draft, Osborne’s chance of finding an AFL club appear still to be alive.

Osborne arrived on the Gold Coast on Sunday and started training with the SUNS on Monday.

The GC SUNS have selection 2 in the Rookie Draft to be held on December 11.

Osborne is one of 28 players to receive permission to train with AFL Clubs.
