Fresh off a Round 3 NAB AFLW Rising Star nomination, Kalinda Howarth has also been named in AFL.com.au’s AFLW Team of the Week.

In the third game of her AFLW career, Howarth kicked three of the team’s four goals to bring them back into the contest in the first ever QClash at Metricon Stadium.

Two of her three goals were kicked in the space of a minute during the second quarter to get her side on the scoreboard.

Late in the fourth quarter she marked 25m out from goal, drawing the SUNS level after slotting the set shot from a tight angle with a sublime finish.

Howarth, a product of the Gold Coast SUNS Academy was originally drafted to the Brisbane Lions ahead of the 2018 season, before earning an opportunity as a priority selection ahead of the SUNS inaugural AFLW campaign.

She finished the match with 10 disposals, a mark and a tackle to go with her three goals.

Howarth was named on the interchange the Team of the Week.

The Team of the Week is selected to mirror the All Australian side: five defenders, six midfielders (including a ruck), five forwards and five interchange players.

Like the All Australian team, it has players selected in general categories, rather than in traditional positions.
