Players with an indigenous background that took part in the visit from the club included Roland Achee, Rex Liddy, Liam Patrick and Joey Daye.
The players took part in a formal information sharing session in front of 400 students which included talking about their tribe they came from, their indigenous experiences and sharing facts about their Aboriginal culture that many of the students and teachers were unaware of.
Patrick’s indigenous background includes being related to Melbourne superstar Liam Jurrah and Rex Liddy is the Cousin of North Queensland Cowboys Matt Bowen.
The highlight of the visit was when GCFC player Roland Achee surprised the big crowd that was on hand, with an impressive display of playing the didgeridoo which included a few special effects like the Kangaroo and the Boomerang.
The players and the GCFC promotions team then gave all 400 students and AFL experience, when all boys and girls took part in a clinic on the GCFC Promotions team’s giant inflatable field.
