Gold Coast SUNS emerging superstar David Swallow said he was disappointed to be missing the International Rules Series.

The GC SUNS midfielder tore his hamstring in the final five minutes of the SUNS Round 24 match against Hawthorn at Metricon Stadium.

“I’m really disappointed that I couldn’t have played in the series, it would have been great to play with my brother and share the experience with Zac and Trent, especially next week on the Gold Coast.”

“I was fortunate to get a letter of invitation late in the season and would have played for sure but my injury meant I wasn’t fit to play.”

Swallow returned to pre-season training on Monday, but has been restricted to the rehab group as he overcomes the hamstring tear.

“It’s feeling pretty good now, we are just concentrating on getting it right before we head off on our Arizona training camp,” Swallow said.

Swallow spoke with goldcoastfc.com.au after he was a passenger in a two-seater F1 car, that was on show in Doug Jennings Park, at “The Spit.”

Swallow was joined by teammate, Brandon Matera in a lap around the park, where they reached sppeds of up to 250km/ph.

“It was pretty amazing, really quick, I’m still shaking now from it.”
