The SUNS Academy will resume operations this month after an extended layoff due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A six-week male Academy program has been put in motion for the SUNS Academy’s draft hopefuls and best underage talent, taking on the Brisbane Lions and Sydney Swans academies and a Northern Territory team.

A 30-player squad has been named for the Northern Academies Series which kicks off on August 9 against Brisbane.

Players will train with their respective QAFL clubs from Mondays to Wednesdays then the selected 23 for each match will assemble on Thursdays for an Academy training session.

The Academies Series will conclude in time for players to return for QAFL finals in September.

  • Rd 1  SUNS v Lions - 9th August, Brendale
  • Rd 2  SUNS v Lions - 16th August, Labrador
  • Rd 3  SUNS v NT – 22nd / 23rd August, Gold Coast
  • SUNS v NT Female U18 curtain raiser
  • Rd 4  SUNS v Swans TBC - 30th August, Aspley*

*Some NT players will be selected to represent SUNS in the last Academy Series match.
