The AFL has today release a finalised draft order for the 2020 NAB AFLW Draft taking place on Tuesday October 6.

The SUNS will have eight selections in the draft after the news today that Tiarna Ernst had announced her retirement from AFLW.

Gold Coast SUNS utility Jasmyn Hewett has also been put on the club’s inactive list for the 2021 AFLW season.

The SUNS have received two extra selections in the draft, picks 60 and 61, as compensation.

Hewett made the decision to opt out of the upcoming season due to ongoing work commitments at home in Darwin.

It means Hewett will be unable to play any AFLW games in 2021, but remains as a Gold Coast listed player.

“It’s unfortunate that Jasmyn will be unavailable to play for the SUNS next season but we respect her decision to continue to pursue her career outside football,” SUNS Head of Women’s Football Fiona McLarty said.

“We’re confident that we will be able to strengthen our list with the eight selections at the draft to set us up well for a successful season in 2021.”

The Gold Coast SUNS will hold selections 7, 23, 50, 54, 57, 58, 60 and 61 in the 2020 NAB AFLW Draft.
