The Gold Coast SUNS have added experienced midfielder Georgia Bevan to the club’s AFLW list as an injury replacement player ahead of the 2021 NAB AFLW Season.

Bevan was approved as the latest signing to the squad after a long-term knee injury to Jacqui Yorston meant a position had become available on the list.

Yorston was on hand to present Bevan with her 2021 playing guernsey at the club’s internal season launch event.

Bevan, 27, has 13 games of AFLW experience to her name having played two seasons for Adelaide, including the club’s 2017 premiership at Metricon Stadium.

“I’m so excited to be given another opportunity on an AFLW list and can’t thank the SUNS enough for believing in me,” Bevan said.

“The girls have been so welcoming and I’m looking forward to playing my role in helping this club achieve success.”

SUNS Head of Women’s Football Fiona McLarty said the club was thrilled to have Bevan on board for 2021.

“When we knew we had the option to add a player due to Jacqui’s long-term injury, we set out to find the type of player we wanted, but someone who also fit within the values of the club,” McLarty said.

“Georgia has had to fight hard for a second chance in the AFLW but we know she is the type of person who can really add to our group across all aspects of the program.”

The SUNS will launch their 2021 NAB AFLW season on January 30, taking on the Melbourne Demons at Metricon Stadium.
