The Gold Coast SUNS came through the Round 7 AFL victory against Collingwood injury free, however a veteran key defender is set to miss the next couple of weeks.

Jack Hombsch missed the second half of the VFL fixture on Friday afternoon after succumbing to a calf complaint during the second quarter.

“Jack had a calf injury in the first half and subsequently didn’t take part in the second half of the game,” SUNS Head Physiotherapist Lindsay Bull told the Qscan Injury Update.

“We assessed that yesterday and that looks like a moderate grade strain, so we expect Jack to probably miss two to three weeks.”

Meanwhile, Matt Rowell has reached another milestone in his recovery from a PCL injury.

“Matt is now six weeks post injury and we had him in a brace for those six weeks.”

“He’s now out of the brace and he’s quite happy about that.”

“He’s got a few strength markers to hit now before he looks to return to run.”

Jacob Townsend is close to returning from a facial fracture and Luke Towey is aiming towards a return in the next month.
