The Gold Coast SUNS have made four changes to the team to take on Melbourne at Metricon Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

As flagged by Senior Coach Stuart Dew in his press conference this morning, Joel Jeffrey will come in to make his AFL debut after kicking 12 goals in the last two weeks at VFL level.

Also coming into the side is ruckman Zac Smith, forward Darcy Macpherson and defender Jy Farrar.

Oleg Markov will miss the match after injuring his hamstring in last week’s game, while Izak Rankine, Rory Atkins and Caleb Graham have been omitted.

Dew said the match committee was excited to hand Jeffrey his AFL debut.

“The way he has been playing has impressed us, he has put in a really good body of work,” Dew said.

“I think all of us at the club have loved the way he has attacked coming into the full-time environment.

“It is not easy to move away from family and come to a new place, meet new people but from day one he has really put his head down, he has done the work.

“It is a fantastic moment for Joel and us, as a footy club,” Dew said.

First bounce for the Round 20 clash is at 3:10pm at Metricon Stadium, with gates open from 1pm.
