The Gold Coast SUNS Round 20 Toyota AFL Premiership Season fixture against Melbourne has been rescheduled to 12.10pm on Sunday August 1 at Marvel Stadium.

The Queensland Government decision to declare a snap lockdown in South East Queensland from 4.00pm on Saturday July 31 forced the AFL to reshuffle three fixtures, including the SUNS home match.

Gold Coast SUNS players and staff will travel to Victoria on Saturday afternoon to prepare to play on Sunday.

AFL EGM Clubs and Broadcasting Travis Auld said he was pleased his team was able to reschedule the three games impacted by the three-day lockdown for the 11 Local Government Areas in Queensland which included Gold Coast and Brisbane.

“We thank each of the six clubs, players, venues, broadcasters, umpires, officials and ticketing agents for their agility and collaboration this morning as we worked through rescheduling the three games and we thank respective State Governments for their ongoing support,” Auld said.

“While the pandemic will continue to challenge us, the health and safety of those in our game and the wider community remains paramount and we again thank everyone associated with the game for their continued support of the 2021 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.”

The match will be broadcast on Fox Footy and across Kayo streaming platforms.

The fixture will continue to remain flexible throughout the final rounds of the season to allow the AFL the opportunity to complete all games.

The club urges all members and fans to follow the health advice of their respective State Governments and stay safe.
