The Gold Coast SUNS have defeated the GWS Giants by 56 points at Metricon Stadium this afternoon.

The dominant performance was set up by a six-goal haul from Chris Burgess, who has kicked 13 goals in his last two games.

The win gives the SUNS a 6-4 win/loss record to go into a share of eighth place.

The first quarter was kicked started by an electric Charlie Constable goal on the run from outside 50.

The SUNS had four more majors by quarter time and led by 13 points.

Brayden Fiorini was instrumental with 11 disposals and a goal in the first quarter, while Mac Andrew played his role down back to perfection with five touches.

New recruit Oskar Faulkhead was lively, kicking his first goal in his new colours to go along with 8 disposals in the first term.

The SUNS piled on another five goals in the second term, with Burgess bagging three for the quarter.

Rory Atkins led the SUNS with 19 disposals, while Ned Moyle continued his stellar form with 20 hitouts and four clearances by halftime.

Jermey Sharp was prominent in the second term, with 12 touches, helping the SUNS to a 36-point halftime lead.

The third quarter was the Gold Coast’s most potent, kicking six goals to one, with five different goal-kickers.

Darcy Macpherson put his mark on the game with 16 touches and a goal by three-quarter time.

Fiorini had another strong quarter and would finish with 32 disposals for the match, while Moyle added a goal to his dominant performance.

The Giants mounted a late charge in the fourth quarter, kicking four goals to two before Hewago Paul Oea sealed the win with a late major.

Atkins led all-comers with 36 disposals, while Fiorini and Constable were dominant in the middle of ground with eight clearances and a goal apiece.

Rory Thompson made a strong return from injury with 16 touches and eight marks, partnered down back by Andrew who did not put a foot wrong with 16 disposals.
