Big Bash cricket will return to Metricon Stadium as part of BBL09 with the Gold Coast set to play host to three matches throughout the 2019/2020 season.

It’s the second straight year Metricon Stadium has hosted matches as part of the Australian Summer of cricket, following the inaugural international T20 match and three Big Bash fixtures last season.

Gold Coast SUNS Chief Executive Mark Evans said Metricon Stadium was looking forward to hosting Cricket again this Summer.

“We’re excited to be bringing Big Bash cricket back to Metricon Stadium this Summer and in doing so providing the people of the Gold Coast with the opportunity to see Big Bash cricket at the highest level,” Evans said.

“After the success of our first taste of cricket at Metricon Stadium last season, we’re delighted to be able to have both the Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Stars hosting matches in our backyard.

“The people of the Gold Coast love their sport and we know that Metricon Stadium can provide a first-class experience for patrons attending these fixtures.”

In recent years the Gold Coast and Metricon Stadium have been pivotal in bringing sporting events to the region.

“Metricon Stadium is a world class regional multi-purpose sports and entertainment venue that has a proven track record of delivering outstanding events whether that be an AFL match, major international athletics meet, concerts and Big Bash cricket.”

“Metricon Stadium is an asset for the Gold Coast to enjoy and we want to inspire the Gold Coast Community, by providing a whole range of events and activities for people to enjoy.”

Tickets for all three Big Bash matches to be held at Metricon Stadium will be on-sale in October through Ticketek.
