The Gold Coast SUNS has named its first team for 2023 to take on Sydney at Heritage Bank Stadium on Saturday night.

Ben King has been named at full forward for his return AFL match in a welcome sight for SUNS fans.

As announced earlier on Thursday, SUNS Academy product Bodhi Uwland will make his AFL debut.

2023 recruit Ben Long has been listed in the backline to make his club debut, with Charlie Constable, Jy Farrar and Darcy Macpherson named alongside key defenders Sam Collins and Charlie Ballard.

Touk Miller and Jarrod Witts will lead the club from the midfield, with Matt Rowell and Noah Anderson named on the ball and Elijah Hollands and Uwland on the wings.

Joining King up forward are fellow talls Mabior Chol and Jack Lukosius, with pre-season standout Sam Flanders, Nick Holman and David Swallow filling the remaining forward posts.

On the interchange bench are Ben Ainsworth, Levi Casboult, Alex Davies and Joel Jeffrey.

Emergencies for the match are Tom Berry, Brayden Fiorini, Caleb Graham and Ned Moyle, with one of those four to be named the substitute one hour prior to bounce.

Gates open at 5pm for the season opener at Heritage Bank Stadium which gets underway at 7pm.
