Gold Coast SUNS have added a third Irishwoman to its AFLW list, securing the versatile Cara McCrossan with Pick 6 in tonight’s AFLW Season Eight Supplementary Draft.

McCrossan, a 164cm small forward, joins the SUNS following an impressive 2022 VFLW campaign with the Casey Demons in which she played 15 games on the way to a Preliminary Final.

The Gaelic football convert, whose trademark pressure and tackling saw her become one of Casey’s most important players, has transitioned seamlessly from the round ball to the Sherrin after only playing her first competitive match in Round 1 of the 2022 VFLW season.

The 28-year-old is known for her speed and ability to create scoring opportunities having also kicked nine goals herself for the Demons in 2022.

The 28-year-old becomes the third Gaelic football convert on the SUNS list, joining former St Kilda key tall Clara Fitzpatrick and GAA Ladies Senior Football Player of the Year Niamh McLaughlin.
