The Gold Coast SUNS has named a 26-man squad to play GWS in the AAMI Community Series match at Manuka Oval on Thursday night.

Brandon Ellis has returned from a shin injury to take his place in the side, named on the wing.

Defender Wil Powell has also been named in the team after missing last week’s match simulation against Brisbane due to the birth of his first child.

As foreshadowed throughout the pre-season, positional switches have seen Alex Sexton named at half-back, while Mac Andrew has been named in the forward line and Bailey Humphrey in the midfield.

SUNS Academy draftee Will Graham is the fresh face on the extended interchange of eight alongside Touk Miller, Jack Lukosius, David Swallow, Levi Casboult, Bodhi Uwland, Darcy Macpherson and Hewago Oea.

On the emergency list is Rory Atkins, Ben Long, Sam Clohesy and Ned Moyle.

The match against GWS gets underway at 6:10pm AEST, and will be broadcast live on Fox Footy and Kayo.

The AAMI Community Series is free access for kids and club members, with tickets costing $20 for adults.

AFL Community Series Matches will take on the following format:

  • Four quarters of 20 mins plus time on (as per AFL Premiership Season)​
  • Squad of 30 players, eight interchange and four Emergencies.  Minimum of four players on the Interchange Bench during the match at any time.
  • No interchange Cap.​
  • Full panel of umpires appointed by the AFL​.
