A star-studded line-up containing FIVE Olympians are less than 24 hours away from taking the plunge in tomorrow morning’s SUNS Big Freeze at People First Stadium.

The SUNS are calling on the Gold Coast community to join a host of star athletes, media and social media personalities in the fight against motor neuron disease at People First Stadium.

As confirmed on Monday morning, three-time Olympic gold medallist Leisel Jones is the latest to commit to sliding into an ice-cold Plungie Quad, Plungie’s brand new pool designed to work perfectly as a cold plunge pool, at People First Stadium on Tuesday morning.

Jones will join World Rugby Women’s Sevens Player of the Year Maddison Levi, sister and fellow 2024 Olympian Teagan Levi, London 2012 Gold Medallist and Big Freeze alumni Sally Pearson and Tokyo 2020 Hockeyroo representative Rosie Malone in the icy water.

Despite being no stranger to ice baths throughout their careers, GC SUNS and Richmond great Brandon Ellis and 36-time Hockeyroo Kalindi Commerford will tomorrow face one of the tougher tests of their careers – taking on the Big Freeze.

A frosty Gold Coast morning also awaits social media sensations Srey and Checkers from Marmalade, self-confessed ‘egg man’ and former Love Island contestant Tommy Armour and Gold Coast influencer Katie Gulle.

FightMND CEO Matt Tilley, who will also be taking on the SUNS Big Freeze alongside SUNS Chairman Bob East, is thrilled to see so many people Living it Forward for Big Freeze 11.

“We’re super pumped to have the Gold Coast SUNS gearing up again to host their own Big Freeze. The SUNS are usually the enemy of ice baths – but on this occasion it feels like they’re besties - we couldn’t be more aligned,” Tilley said.

“It’s a very special year for us having our co-founder Neale Daniher as the Australian of the Year. The footy community is in our DNA, and to have the SUNS get around us with such a star-studded event is brilliant.”

Stay tuned for a potential late addition to the roster, with a SUNS AFL favourite in the mix to take the plunge…

The Gold Coast SUNS are inviting the Gold Coast community to join the fight with FREE entry to People First Stadium for Tuesday’s event. Meet your favourite SUNS AFL & AFLW players, Big Freeze 11 beanies will be available for purchase, and your Tuesday morning breakfast sorted thanks to the support of GC SUNS partner Dairy Farmers, and Coles.
