To top off a momentous 24 hours on the Gold Coast, Brayden Fiorini has been presented the AFLPA Education and Training Excellence Award by Torrens University.

The SUN was announced as the winner ahead of Thursday’s 2025 AFL Awards, celebrating the best of the best from the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.

The prestigious achievement recognises players who not only perform on the field but also invest in their growth off it and acknowledges the demands of football with tertiary study or professional training.

When Fiorini is not donning the red and gold, he is an “academic standout” within the Bachelor of Business program at Griffith University, exemplifying his dedication to education while successfully managing a wide range of roles and responsibilities.

The 28-year-old is a father, respected leader in the playing group, mentor within StreetSmarts SUNS Academy and is the co-owner of Little Sport Heroes, a business dedicated to helping young children build confidence and sporting skills through structured programs. Additionally, Fiorini has played a central role in establishing the Gold Coast Suns Business Club, a player-led initiative designed to introduce players to business leaders and career stories from across Australia

GC SUNS Player Development Manager Ben Mabon was ecstatic for the humble and hardworking midfielder.

“Brayden truly represents what this award stands for. His discipline, humility, and drive to grow beyond football make him a role model for both teammates and the next generation of players,” Mabon expressed.

“He’s completing his business degree, co-founded Little Sport Heroes, mentors Academy players, and helped launch the Suns’ Business Club — all while leading on field, at the club, and at home. His dedication isn’t just about his own growth; it’s about creating impact for others and inspiring the next generation.”
