To wrap up a well-earned win for the Gold Coast SUNS, skipper Niamh McLaughlin has earned a perfect ten votes from the Giants’ master Cam Bernasconi and the SUNS Senior Coach Rhyce Shaw.
Each round, both senior coaches award votes to players on a 5-4-3-2-1 basis, determining 10 votes as the maximum achievement.
In her 25th game of AFLW, McLaughlin rotated from a rebounding defender into the midfield to record a game-high 26 disposals, two tackles and five total clearances, on top of her first goal of the season, which was snagged moments after the 157cm-pocket-rocket two stepped a Giant.
Amassing 90 disposals across four games of AFLW, the Irish star now ranks equal 12th in disposal leaders among Hawk Emily Bates and Magpie Brittany Bonnici.
Co-captain Lucy Single also received an impressive four votes from both senior coaches after another stellar performance that delivered a game-high and crucial eight tackles to the SUNS.
With the SUNS system in full force on Saturday, three more SUNS including Havana Harris, Jacqueline Dupuy and Clara Fitzpatrick also earned themselves a nod towards the Sharp EIT Solutions AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award.
