The Gold Coast SUNS can provide an update on SUNS defense duo Ella Maurer and Clara Fitzpatrick, who both missed the Round 9 clash at Kinetic Stadium.
Ella Maurer was excluded from Rhyce Shaw’s line up on Thursday while in the process of seeking specialist advice on her foot.
The 23-year-old underwent surgery on Friday and will be sidelined for the season.
“After discussing results with specialists, Ella proceeded with an operation to address her foot injury,” Gold Coast SUNS AFLW Physiotherapist Jasmine Herlihy said.
“The procedure went well, and our priority now is supporting Ella in her recovery.”
Clara Fitzpatrick was a late change on Saturday after experiencing a mild calf strain.
The Irish defender will be unavailable for the short-term while the SUNS medical team continue to manage her calf.
In lighter news, Taya Oliver will be a test for this Sunday’s Pride Round match in Mackay, with her concussion protocols now lifted.
