Sunny Lappin has been recognised as the StreetSmarts Female Academy Player of the Year following a breakout 2025 campaign.
Across the Coates Talent League fixtures, Lappin was consistently named among the top performers for the Gold Coast’s StreetSmarts SUNS Academy.
The crafty midfielder/forward went on to earn her maiden Under 18 All-Australian honours after being awarded team MVP and runner-up best and fairest player in the U18 Girls 2025 Marsh AFL National Championships, where she averaged an impressive 25.2 disposals (12.5 contested), 5.5 clearances and 4.2 tackles for Queensland.
The Southport Sharks senior also claimed Best on Ground in the 2025 Bond University QAFLW Senior Grand Final, after a dominant performance which included kicking two goals.
The highly touted talent will be in high demand come December’s Telstra AFLW Draft in which the StreetSmarts SUNS Academy prospect has confirmed her intentions to nominate the Gold Coast SUNS.
