A pair of StreetSmarts SUNS Academy products have put pen to paper on new deals with Bodhi Uwland and Lachie Weller signing multi-year extensions on the Gold Coast.

Lifelong SUNS fan Uwland will remain in SUNS colours through until the end of 2030 while Weller’s SUNS tenure is set to span beyond a decade, now locked in until the end of 2029.

Burleigh Bombers product Uwland has been part of the SUNS fabric since the beginning, having first attended a match as a foundation member in 2011. Following an AFL debut in Round 1, 2023, the 21-year-old has played 55 matches for the SUNS.

After moving to the Gold Coast as a teenager, Weller returned to the Sunshine State in 2018 following three seasons at Fremantle and has since played 120 games in the red, gold and blue.

Gold Coast SUNS List Manager Kall Burns is pleased to have locked in two of the Academy’s finest products.

“Bodhi and Lachie are highly valued members of the Gold Coast SUNS, on and off the field. Securing them both on multi-year deals is a strong outcome for our football club,” Burns said

“Together with our leaders, Bodhi & Lachie have consistently set the standard and lead by example

“We’re excited to see them play key roles in 2026 and beyond.”

The duo are among 16 StreetSmarts SUNS Academy products currently on the SUNS AFL list and have both earned Club Champion podium finishes throughout their careers (Weller; third place 2018, Uwland; runner-up 2024).

The pair are also among a unique group of players whose brothers have also played for the SUNS with Bodhi and younger brother Zeke this year becoming just the second set of brothers to play together for the club.
