Gold Coast SUNS defender Daniel Rioli will be sidelined for several weeks after undergoing an operation on his jaw.
Rioli left the field in the second quarter on Friday night’s match and was sent for scans following the match.
“Daniel was sent for scans on Friday night which confirmed a broken jaw. He underwent an operation on Sunday and is now back home and recovering,” GC SUNS Head Physiotherapist Andrew Weller said.
“We expect him to be unavailable for selection in the medium term.”
Versatile forward Lachie Gulbin will also be sidelined with a fractured hand suffered in the VFL.
Defender Wil Powell will be a test to return against the Dockers after a fortnight on the sidelines recovering from a shoulder injury.
“Wil’s undergone a period of strengthening in his shoulder after injuring it against the Lions a few weeks ago. He’ll train this week with the hope of being available for selection on Sunday,” Weller added.
In positive news, Lachie Weller, Will Graham and Avery Thomas’ timeframes have all been adjusted to short-term.
