Zeke Uwland’s blistering performance against Collingwood has earned him the Round 17 Telstra Rising Star nomination.

Uwland was prolific across half-back, kicking an important goal in the third term to go with a career-best 32 disposals and five rebound 50s.

Known for his poise and lethal left boot, Uwland has been deployed on a wing most prominently in his debut season before playing a role across half-back in recent weeks. The 19-year-old has played all but three games to date in 2026.

Uwland was selected with Gold Coast’s first selection in the 2025 AFL Draft, becoming the first of four StreetSmarts SUNS Academy graduates selected in the first round.

He becomes the third SUNS player to earn a Rising Star nomination in 2026, joining fellow Academy and Burleigh Bombers juniors Leo Lombard (Opening Round) and Jai Murray (Round 15).

He also joins older brother Bodhi who earned a Rising Star nomination in 2024.

“Zeke has had a strong start to his AFL career and we’re thrilled to see him earn a Rising Star nomination,” GC SUNS General Manager of Football Craig Cameron said.

“It’s a great piece of recognition not only for Zeke, but for his family and everyone who has played a part in his journey so far."

“We’re looking forward to seeing him continue to develop at our club develop in the years ahead.
