It’s not often a player reaches 100 games at two different clubs, and it’s rarer when that player is a dual Brownlow Medallist.

On Saturday when the SUNS run out at Etihad Stadium, former captain Gary Ablett will be just the fifth Gold Coast player to reach 100 games in the red and gold.

Jarrod HarbrowMichael Rischitelli, Tom Lynch and foundation SUN Matt Shaw reached the milestone in 2016.

It’s a significant achievement for both club and player, and one that the fans will treasure far more if the SUNS get the chocolates this Easter weekend.

“I think I’m just so blessed to be doing what I dreamt of doing as young kid,” Ablett told the media earlier this week.

“I’ve played 290-odd games, I think, and I still remember back to when I first started, I would have been happy to just play one senior game.”

Having entered his seventh season at the SUNS, the three-time Club Champion said he was humbled by the milestone, however, declared it wouldn’t distract him before the first bounce.

“I think it’s something I’ll enjoy a little bit more after the game, and hopefully after a win as well.”

Coming off a record-breaking win over Hawthorn, this weekend’s clash against Carlton is a chance for the SUNS to even the ledger this season.

“I think the way we played on the weekend was the way we trained all pre-season.”

“We’ve won one game of football, and we need to make sure we back up this weekend against Carlton, and that starts on the training track.”
