Bearing Gold Coast SUNS merchandise and 2XU apparel, the two players travelled to the Southport medical precinct, meeting with some of the club’s youngest fans.
“Jack and I came out to Pindara Hospital to see a few kids, and came with a few gift bags to help put a smile on their face before Christmas,” Russell said.
“It was good to see them and hopefully we made Christmas slightly more enjoyable for them.”
Currently rehabilitating from off-season hip surgery, Russell has endured a frustrating pre-season to date, restricted to light skills activities as the main training group excels further with their elite conditioning program.
However, the hard-running utility says the visit to Pindara helped put the daily demands of playing AFL football into perspective.
“I’ve been going through my hip rehabilitation, meaning I’ve had more time off than most of the other boys.”
“It’s been good to get out in the community though; it was good to come out here today, and really get to know a few of the kids.
“It has made me keep a more positive outlook forward my rehabilitation.”
