After several days of training and adjusting to the freezing conditions in Flagstaff, the Gold Coast SUNS were sent back down the mountain to Sedona, Arizona’s “Red rock country”.
For decades Sedona has provided the picturesque backdrop for Americas famed Western movies, however in recent years it’s become a spiritual home for adrenaline seeking life lovers who flock to the Colorado Plateau to hike, climb and Mountain bike.
Campbell Brown, saying the Sedona excursion to date has been a tour highlight.
“Yesterday we went down to Sedona, and I think for me personally and speaking to a lot of the guys it was one of the best days of the camp so far.” It took two hours of bike riding and cross country riding and the boys came off the bikes a few times and then after that we switched over and the boys did a hike.”
The hard, steep trails leaving their mark on a number of the GC SUNS players who struggled to navigate their way across the rocky desert floor.
“Dion Prestia came off and I think he is a bit sore and Karmichael Hunt hit himself in the crown jewels and is a little bit tender today.”
The Arizona experience, one Brown hopes the club continues for years to come.
Yesterday was a fantastic day, it’s great to experience these things and except for Josh Fraser and a couple of the ex Collingwood boys it’s the first time we as a group have been to Flagstaff Arizona and to be training at altitude , were already experiencing the benefits now.”
