Zac Smith has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2014 season after injuring his ankle on Saturday night.

General Manager - Football Operations, Marcus Ashcroft, confirmed that Smith is scheduled to have surgery this week.

“Zac has seen specialists this week and it has been determined that he will required surgery on his ankle to repair damage to his medial ligament.

“He will have the surgery in Brisbane on Thursday and as a result he will miss the remainder of the season."

The SUNS ruckman returned to the team in round 9 after successfully returning from a knee reconstruction.

“It’s a disappointing way for Zac to end the season, considering his comeback from his knee injury.

“But fortunately for Zac he will be fit enough to resume training when the team returns for pre-season training, allowing him to have a full summer of training ahead of the 2015 season,” Ashcroft said.
