Gold Coast SUNS defender Michael Coad reinjured his hamstring in just his second game back from major surgery on Saturday in Cairns.

Coad, who played less than half a game in his return match for the GC SUNS reserves against the Sydney Swans a fortnight ago, limped of Cazaly’s Stadium in the opening five minutes of the SUNS match against NT Thunder.

The 27-year old defender requires further scans to determine if he has re-torn the hamstring or has just damaged scar tissue surrounding his hamstring. The results of the scans will be known later in the week.

It was a horror start for the GC SUNS reserves, who also lost ruckman/forward Daniel Gorringe in the first quarter of the match.

Gorringe injured his ankle, and despite initial fears that he may have severely broken his ankle, scans cleared him of any major structural damage, however Gorringe will still be sidelined for 6-8 weeks with minor break.
