Every night up to seven hundred children and homeless youth are left to fend for themselves on Gold Coast streets.
Specialised services are stretched to breaking point and tragically providers are unable to cater for many homeless children who knock on their door looking for a safe, warm place to rest.
These are youth forced to face their fears every day and night and they are the reason why the Gold Coast SUNS have Youth Homelessness as a key Community Pillar.
Each year the SUNS hold their “Face your fears” day at Dreamworld with representatives from the Clubs Community team along with players spending a fun filled day testing themselves on the parks many adrenalin charged rides.

Today is all about just facing your fears and we have got our three charities associated with youth homelessness and we just bring them out here to Dreamworld and take them for a ride on the Claw and we get to face our fears as well as the young blokes and girls."
Gold Coast SUNS players and Youth Homeless Ambassadors Tom Hickey and Jared Brennan hosted a group of forty at Dreamworld this week with Jared taking some convincing when asked to face his fears on the Claw.
It’s pretty scary, I had to go through it twice because big Jared Brennan was too scared to go through the first time so but no it was good out there and good sit next to the young people and have a bit of a chat to them.Participants on the day were invited from the Gold Coast SUNS three nominated Youth Homeless Charities the Club supports Gold Coast Youth Service, Project for Homeless Youth and YHES House.
We are just trying to raise a bit of awareness for the homeless on the Gold Coast, this is the third year we have been doing it now and it’s all about getting thirty or forty kids to Dreamworld and taking their minds off things and get them out and about and hopefully raise some awareness at the same time.
The Gold Coast SUNS focus on the three areas of Corporate Social Responsibility on the Gold Coast, charities which are also the Cities leading social challenges, being Youth Homelessness, Domestic Violence along with the many issues being tackled in the North Gold Coast region.
