The Gold Coast SUNS may have won a thriller against the Tiggers in Cairns, but I thought it might be useful if Sunny Ray leant a hand as the squad trained in the sun at Metricon Stadium yesterday ahead of this weekend sell out blockbuster against the pies!
It started with a 60-mintue skills session on the main oval and there was plenty of interest as I showed David Swallow my trademark Paradise Point move so don’t be surprised if you see him use it out in the middle at Metricon on Saturday night.
So who trained well?
Karmichael Hunt continues to impress me and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him break into the side despite missing the Richmond win.
I’m a big fan of Youngster Mav “Top Gun” Weller. Not only is he chiseled and buffed like me but he really puts in at training as did David “Junior” Swallow and Dion “Meat Ball” Prestia.
Our Captain Gary Ablett led the way on the training track, showing us his impressive skills, although I sense a bit of tension between us, I guess it’s because I am so popular with the fans?
Youngsters Brandon Matera and Josh Caddy spent the session riding exercise bikes near the interchange bench, they looked to be doing it pretty easy so I clicked the gears up a little to get the thighs burning.
After the session I had a quick chat with fellow red head; Bluey McKenna, we’ve been close ever since he joined the Club and he’s always keen to hear my views on the game and on the odd occasion I slip him a few tips.
So after a quick rundown of last week’s match, weve pretty much decided that there wont be too many changes to the senior side this week.
Can’t wait for this weekend’s match! Make sure you wear your RED.
See you there,
