Ahead of Friday night’s primetime fixture, to kick off Round 13 of the Toyota AFL Premiership Season and Sir Doug Nicholls Round, the club will present Carlton with a traditional Indigenous gift.
Jarrod Harbrow, Sean Lemmens and Izak Rankine will toss the coin on behalf of the club’s past and present indigenous players and provide the Blues with a Woomera on behalf of the SUNS.
A Woomera is a spear throwing tool that helps to enhance the distance and power of the spear once thrown.
Traditionally made from the black palm tree on Kuku Yalanji Country in Far North Queensland, where Harbrow grew up.
In conjunction with local Yugambeh man Luther Cora, Jarrod’s cousin, created the gift ahead of Sir Doug Nicholls Round.
