David Swallow has been appointed as a life member of the Gold Coast SUNS at the 2020 Club Champion.

Swallow qualified for life membership after playing his 150th game for the club in Round 13, and it was ratified by the board to become the third player to earn the honour behind Jarrod Harbrow and Michael Rischitelli.

Coming to the SUNS via the club’s first ever draft selection in 2010, Swallow has become an integral part of the Gold Coast Football Club.

He won the Club Champion in 2014 and was appointed as a captain in 2019.

Inaugural board members Bob East and Paul Scurrah were also inducted as life members on the night, recognised for their 10 years of service to the club.

Currently serving as Deputy Chairman of the Gold Coast SUNS behind Tony Cochrane, East is also the Chairman of Tourism Australia.

East worked as CEO of the Mantra Group for 12 years where he helped shape the company into Australia’s largest hotel chain.

Scurrah, CEO & Managing Director of Virgin Australia, has more than 20 years of experience in the transport, tourism and customer service industries and joined the Gold Coast SUNS board in July 2010.

Virgin Australia have been a longstanding partner of the Gold Coast SUNS.

Swallow, East and Scurrah join Harbrow, Rischitelli, Bob Gordon, John Witheriff and Dr Alan Mackenzie as life members of the Gold Coast SUNS Football Club
