Leading into the opening round of the 2021 NAB AFLW Competition, Gold Coast SUNS AFLW membership sales have surged.

For the first time, AFLW matches will be fully ticketed events in 2021 with SUNS AFLW members able to gain free access to standalone matches at Metricon Stadium and Great Barrier Reef Arena, in Mackay.

General Manager – Consumer and Community, Jane McGough says the support of our AFLW team by the Gold Coast community, our members and fans has been overwhelming.

“The Gold Coast well and truly embraced our AFLW team in their inaugural campaign and it’s fantastic to have already seen our AFLW membership surpass last year’s total before the season has even started,” McGough said.

“With the introduction of fully ticketed events in 2021 for the AFLW competition, a SUNS AFLW membership provides our members with more benefits than ever with guaranteed, priority access to our home games.

“Most importantly membership provides direct support to our AFLW players, 24 of which are Queenslanders and the ongoing development of our AFLW program.”

With the team now heading into their second season in the AFLW, the support from the Gold Coast community has been uplifting and players cannot wait to be playing back in front of a crowd of members and fans.

Born and bred Gold Coaster Kalinda Howarth says there is no better feeling than playing in at Metricon Stadium.

“Playing at Metricon Stadium in front of all of our members has always been a dream of mine since I first started playing football, and it was incredible to have it come true last year,” Howarth said.

“Having made finals last season and being the first national women’s team from the Gold Coast, the support of members and fans is something we cherish, and we want to continue to make them proud,” Howarth said.

The Gold Coast SUNS will be playing the Melbourne Demons in Round 1 on Saturday 30th January at Metricon Stadium.
