SUNS AFLW midfielder Jamie Stanton is just six votes shy of cracking into the top 10 in the AFL Coaches Association AFLW Champion Player of the Year award.

Stanton had another sublime performance against West Coast on the weekend, receiving eight votes for her 14 disposals, six tackles and game-high five score involvements.

Stanton was the highest-polling player on the ground and moves into 13th position on the overall leaderboard.

Lauren Ahrens received four votes for her efforts in defence, notching 19 disposals and 11 intercepts.

In the midfield Alison Drennan had a game-high 11 tackles, 14 disposals and four clearances to also poll four votes.

Serene Watson closed out the voting for the SUNS with two votes for her 12 disposals and three inside 50’s.

For West Coast, Maddy Collier (six votes), Mikayla Bowen (five) and Imahra Cameron (one) all polled.

The AFL Coaches Association AFLW Champion Player of the Year is an award voted by the AFLW senior coaches on a 5,4,3,2,1 basis after each home and away game, acknowledging outstanding effort to an individual player in a season.
