The Gold Coast SUNS will be forced into at least one change for the Round 5 match against the Western Bulldogs with Sean Lemmens ruled out with concussion.

There is a spot in defence which needs to be filled, and key defender Jack Hombsch could be the man to come in to combat the Dogs’ tall forward line of Josh Bruce, Aaron Naughton and Tim English.

Last week it was Sam Flanders who came on as the medical substitute, with the coaches shuffling Nick Holman into defence to cover the small defender role.

Flanders could be an option for the 22 if the coaching staff are happy to use the versatile Holman in defence.

After overcoming a minor quad injury, Jy Farrar is available for selection again and has been training with the defensive group as a potential replacement for Lemmens.

If the match committee decide on the need for more firepower in attack, Josh Corbett should come into consideration as a third key forward, with his contested marking a big asset.

Brayden Fiorini continues to put together a strong body of work in the VFL practice matches, but is best-suited to play in the midfield.

Will Brodie came out of the side in Round 4 and will be considered again for Round 5, but like Fiorini needs an opening in the midfield.

2021 recruit Rory Atkins has played two VFL practice matches after an interrupted pre-season, although the coaches may decide to give him more time to build fitness before considering him for selection.

Who do you think is in the mix?
