SUNS Rookie Jacob Heron will make his senior debut at Adelaide Arena at Jiangwan Stadium in Shanghai for Round 9 of the AFL Toyota Premiership Season.

The Academy product was pre-selected as a Category B Rookie at the end of 2017, after relocating to the Gold Coast from Cairns earlier in the year to play a greater role in the SUNS Academy and NEAFL teams.

As a small forward, Heron brings a strong element of defensive pressure and tackling to the side along with his ability to hit the scoreboard.

Known as “speedy” for his athleticism on the ground, Heron is the only change to the SUNS line-up, coming in to replace a suspended Sam Day.

Heron will be one of five Academy players to run out with the team come Round 9 (Jack Bowes, Lachie Weller, Brad Scheer and Brayden Crossley), and bring the team’s Queensland tally to eight.
