Coming off his best game in SUNS colours, key forward Levi Casboult feels he is continuing to improve each week as he strengthens his connection and cohesion with his teammates.

Casboult has been a standout in a new-look Gold Coast forward line this year which is missing mainstay forward Ben King.

Both Casboult and fellow recruit Mabior Chol have helped to cover the loss of King, and the marking key forward said the pair were finding their synergies after seven games side by side.

“It's still a work in progress,” Casboult said of the new combination.

“Myself and Mabs have only been here for six months so the more footy that we can play together and also as a group… it will hold us in good stead going forward.

“But the positive is we're getting looks at it and it’s just something to improve on.”

It’s been the fresh start Casboult needed on the Gold Coast after 10 years and over 150 games with Carlton.

The 32-year-old has booted 16 goals in his seven games this season and become a much-loved teammate in the process.

“I've loved my time up here. I've really enjoyed integrating with the boys and they've really embraced me and the role I play which has been enjoyable,” Casboult said.

“It's not always about kicks, marks and handballs, I think they just love the contest that I bring.

“Sometimes I'll kick one and sometimes I'll kick four and on the weekend I would have loved to kick eight, but I think that's not what it's about for them, it's the contest that I can bring and how that brings others into the game as well.

“It's been a good start, but I'm looking forward to where we can get to.”
