The Gold Coast SUNS have recruited former St Kilda midfielder Tahlia Meyer as a delisted free agent.

Known for her running capabilities, Meyer has played 10 games in her two seasons with St Kilda before being delisted last month.

Meyer is one of the best runners in the league, having won St Kilda’s 2km time trial for the last two seasons.

Gold Coast SUNS Head of Women’s Football Fiona Sessarago said the acquisition of the 26-year-old would help boost the SUNS’ athletic profile.

“Tahlia is someone we have targeted to add to our playing group, she brings elite running capabilities and will add some speed to our midfield group,” Sessarago said.

“We went into this year’s Sign and Trade Period with a clear strategy to continue to improve our list which we’ve been able to do with the addition of Tahlia.

“She also joins the SUNS with two years of AFLW experience which will add value to our exciting core group of players.”

Meyer becomes the fifth player to joins the SUNS through the AFLW Sign and Trade period after the mature-age signings of Georgia Clayden, Gabrielle Biedenweg-Webster and Krystal Scott, as well as the acquisition of Courtney Jones from Carlton.

The club currently has three list positions open ahead of the 2022 NAB AFLW Draft on Wednesday June 29.
