The AFL has today released the fixture for the upcoming NAB AFLW Season Seven.
The Gold Coast SUNS will kickstart its season with a trip to Tasmania to take on North Melbourne on August 27, followed by a home match at Metricon Stadium against West Coast the next week.
In Round 4 the SUNS will take on St Kilda at Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay.
The fixture also includes a QClash against the Brisbane Lions at The Gabba (Round 3) and matches against new expansion clubs Port Adelaide (Round 5) and Sydney (Round 7).
The SUNS have three home games at Metricon Stadium, one at Broadbeach and one at Great Barrier Reef Arena.
The club will also have a primetime Friday night fixture in Round 9, taking on Carlton at Metricon Stadium in a match to be broadcast nationally on Channel 7.
Gold Coast SUNS Head of Women’s Football Fiona Sessarago said the club welcomed today’s fixture announcement.
“We’re really excited for the season ahead and are pleased to have some blockbuster games fixtured at Metricon Stadium later this year,” Sessarago said.
“It’s fantastic that we get to go back to Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay for Round 4 and also play a game at one of our local community grounds at Broadbeach.
“We now have our full squad assembled after last week’s draft and are firmly focussed on putting in the work through the remainder of our preseason ahead of our season opener on August 27.”
