In partnership with the Gold Coast SUNS and Harrup Park, Kool Beanz will pioneer a new model for integrated childcare in Mackay.

The first of four childcare centres in the Mackay region, Kool Beanz SUNS Harrup Park will open its doors mid 2023 providing care for 94 children per day in a fully inclusive environment.

Number one ticket holder for the Gold Coast SUNS and founder and owner of Kool Beanz Academy, Bruce Coulson has been in the childcare industry for over 16 years.

With a solid reputation as a high quality, safe, professional and child centred provider he is taking this to a new level with the development of Kool Beanz SUNS Harrup Park.

Coulson currently operates six facilities in Northern NSW and is soon to launch a state of the art, $10 million facility at Metricon Stadium in conjunction with the Gold Coast SUNS.

His experience in the industry has motivated him to develop a centre like no other, a unique initiative providing an inclusive childcare environment for all children including those with additional needs.

As a point of difference, the centres offer the opportunity for children to receive additional care through higher child to staff ratios and have educators specifically trained with the skills to help support children with diverse needs.

Construction on the $5 million Harrup Park development will commence this week, with local builder Citecon assigned to the project.

Opening mid-2023, the cutting-edge facility will create roughly 25 jobs as well as supporting the childcare needs of the local community.

“We were introduced to the Mackay region through the Gold Coast SUNS partnership with Mackay Council,” Coulson said.

“It didn’t take us long to fall in love and start to build our presence here, quickly feeling welcomed by the local community.

“With the huge demand for childcare, it was a no brainer to expand into the region.  Mackay Council have been extremely supportive of this and we look forward to providing the local community with a much-needed service.”

GC SUNS GM – Commercial, Andrew Thomas said the football club was excited to see the project come together with the support of two key partners.

“It’s fantastic that we were able to help facilitate and build the relationship between Mackay Regional Council and Kool Beanz,” Thomas said.

“There is incredible demand for childcare services in Mackay and the Kool Beanz SUNS facilities offer one-of-a-kind childcare solutions to the community which we are thrilled to play a small part in bringing to life.

“A key component of our partnership with Mackay Regional Council was to bolster greater investment opportunities in the region, so we are pleased to be able to continue to do that through initiatives like Kool Beanz SUNS.”

Kool Beanz SUNS Harrup Park will be a centre like no other in Mackay, with purpose specific learning environments such as Art Studio, STEM Room, Library, Lego Room, Zen Garden and beautiful natural play spaces.

A one-of-a-kind inclusive centre that celebrates and acknowledges all children, the Kool Beanz handpicked team of experienced educators will deliver an exceeding educational program developed specifically to meet the individual interests and developmental needs of each child.
